PANEMA

The Nemedussa project includes the establishment of a Pan-African Nematology Network (Panema) and aims to promote networking and academic exchange between nematologists in Africa, who are often working in isolation (Cortada et al. 2019). The focus will be on sharing good educational practices, creating networks between HEIs to apply for educational projects and additional learning opportunities. Activities during the Nemedussa project period are:

  • Hosting webinars
  • Three workshops in February 2022, March 2023 and March 2024 and travel grants available for young educators in nematology.
  • Introduce innovative e-learning tools in English and French through the Nematology Digital Learning Platform
  • Sharing news on several digital platforms to agglutinate nematologists within Africa and expanding the network with nematologists globally
  • Developing one sustainability plan for the organisation of activities after the NEMEDUSSA project

The 1st PANEMA workshop took place in Eldoret, Kenya from 23-25 February 2022. This workshop was hosted by Moi University.

The 2nd PANEMA workshop took place from 1-3 March 2023 in Mbombela, South Africa and was hosted by associated partner, the University of Mpumalanga.

The 3rd PANEMA workshop, held in Cotonou, Benin, from 12-13 March 2024, was hosted by Université d’Abomey-Calavi, Benin.
