The Nematology Coordination Office at the Faculty of Science, Ghent University proudly announces that the Erasmus+ project, Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE): Nematology Education in Sub-Saharan Africa, or NEMEDUSSA, has received a VERY GOOD score from the EUs European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). In addition to acknowledging the project’s implementation, outstanding impact and innovation in education and research capacity building, it was recognised as an example of ‘best practice’.

The NEMEDUSSA project was a joint effort by a consortium of universities from Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe, and coordinated by Ghent University. This three-year initiative (2021-2024) was co-funded by the European Union (Erasmus+ KA2 CBHE) and VLIR-UOS, supporting educational cooperation and governance improvements in eligible partner countries.

As part of the key achievements, BSc/MSc course modules and a textbook on nematodes were developed in both English and French. These teaching materials are now freely accessible via the open-access Nematology Digital Learning Platform (NDLP). Additionally, the project upgraded research facilities and trained staff, extension workers, and students on nematodes. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated team, partners, participants, and sponsors for their invaluable contributions and collaboration in achieving the project objectives.
