received a PhD in Phytopathology at the University of Illinois in 1970 and is Prof. emeritus of the University of Bonn, Germany where he conducted nematological research since 1971. He edited seven books and proceedings on nematology and related fields, trained 93 Ph.D. students, and has received a number of awards for his contributions to science. Together with his students he has published over 300 peer reviewed articles during his extensive career in international agriculture and nematology.
