Successful school visit by UAC student club, Benin

The Nematology Student Club of the University of Abomey-Calavi (Benin) has been expanding and reaching out to school learners since its inception in June 2022. Under the leadership of Dr Antoine Affokpon, the student club hosted an information session for students of the Lycée Technique Agricole d’Adja-Ouèrè (secondary and high school levels) on 9 November 2023. During this dissemination activity, Dr Affokpon organized a theoretical and practical training on “Recognition of symptoms of plant-parasitic nematode damage and management strategies” for teachers and students. This first introduction to nematodes enabled secondary school youngsters to become more aware of this unique creature and the role it plays in agriculture.
